Biography |
||
I was surrounded by gundogs from an early age, as my Father was a Gamekeeper, but I had my first Flatcoated
Retriever in 1974. He was Barradon Viscount, a grandson of Heronsflight Tercel. I trained him myself and he
won an English Any Variety Novice Working Test when he was 16 months old and I had caught the bug! Over the years I have owned a number of Flatcoats, which have been successful in the Show ring as well as Working Tests and Field Trials in England. I have been interested in hunting and fishing all my life and Flatcoated Retrievers have always been my companion gundogs. I count myself fortunate to have trialed my dogs alongside Dr. Nancy Laughton, the Hon. Amelia Jessell, Colin Wells, Reed Flowers and Dr Tim Woodgate-Jones, to mention a few. I began awarding C.C.'s in the Showring in the breed in England in the early 1990's I am one of the few people in this Country who give C.C’s in the Showring and also judge at Field Trial level. Over the years I have judged in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Italy and at the Canadian Specialty. I had the honour of Judging the Gamekeepers Classes at Crufts in 2013, the Flatcoated Retriever Society Championship Show, bitches in 2013 and the Flatcoat Breed, dogs at Crufts in 2016. In the past I have served on the Flatcoated Retriever Society General Committee for 13 years and held the position of Hon. Field Trial Secretary for the Society for 3 years. I am at present on the Vice Chairman of Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club and on the Committee of The Northern Golden Retriever Association. |
