Dr. Fernando Navia is a Veterinary doctor graduated from the Central University of Venezuela in 1992 specializing in small animals, in his own practice. In 1977 he acquired his first purebred Boxer and entered him at a dog show in March of 1978. Once into the world of dog shows in his country, he studied under Mrs. María de Peter, recognized pioneer and founder of the Cinofilia in Venezuela, for a period of 5 years. He trained for the handling of show dogs and obedience, and graduated the first Boxer Companion Dog in Venezuela in 1979. From that moment on, he was dedicated to handling purebred dogs in dog shows, especially German Shepherds, achieving many rewarding awards.
In 1988 he acquired his first English Bull Terrier, a breed for which he had always felt a special attraction, and he dedicated specifically to the breeding of this breed, under the appellation "Grand Chester", raising numerous litters and achieving many champions, inside and outside of the country. He has competed in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, Canada, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Germany and Puerto Rico, where he won the world championship, Puerto Rico 1997.
He is a pioneer in Venezuela of the technique of surgical implant of frozen semen, registering the first litter obtained this way in Venezuela, in 1999. Founding member in 2001 and current president of la Asociación Canina del Estado Miranda, dedicated to canine activity, organization of dog shows with large participation of national and international exemplary. In 2006 he entered into television media, hosting "zona animal", an entertaining and informative program on the subject of pets in general and covering dog shows at the national level. In 2013 he pursued his judging career. He has judged in Venezuela, Colombia, Panama and in the United States. |
