| I am Al Bianchi from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I'm along-time breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs and was first approved to judge by AKC in 1990. Currently I have approval to judge the Working, Toy,Non-Sporting and Herding Groups, along with a variety of Sporting, Hound and Terrier breeds and Junior Showmanship. I'm a Life Member of both the Tidewater Kennel Club the American Shetland Sheepdog Association. As an active club member, I’ve held many offices and committee positions in each, including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Show Chairman and Show Secretary. Other service activities have included stewarding, mentoring and running handling classes. Currently I serve as Treasurer of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association Foundation. In addition to dog-related activities, I like to keep busy and there are two other hobbies that help consume my time. First, Amateur radio has been my passion for over 55 years. I received my first license in 1967 as a teenager and have been an active "Ham" since then. The thrill of making contacts all over the world with modest equipment and making many radio friends never wears off. Second, I'm the proud owner of a 1964 Corvette Stingray. It is a great car to drive and easy enough to work on; and, there is always something that needs tending. It is a convertible with a 327 engine and 4-speed transmission. Cruising around town is simply fun, fun, fun. |
